The maps of the “Old World” poised in the exploration of the “New World” form the backdrop for this work. The eleven cyclists included in this piece wear jerseys representing nations who have had a significant impact on the sport of bicycle racing. Interwoven into each jersey are the images of prominent cycling athletes past and present as well as the banners of iconic newspapers of each of the eleven nations these cyclists come from. Each jersey tells its own visual story to the experienced cycling fan who recognizes the various faces. The more casual viewer may contemplate the variety of emotions expressed in each face as well as the rhythm and texture of the composition.
Original art measures 30″ x 40″ and is composed of tissue paper, newspapers, urethane and acrylic on canvas.
Signed and numbered giclée prints on archival papers with archival ink are available in three image sizes. 12″x16″ and 18″x24″ are in stock. 30″x40″ prints are available, but require an extra 5 days for processing. Please note that all giclées are printed with a 1 inch white border so the actual paper size is 2 inches larger in each dimension. For example, a 12″x16″ giclée is printed on a 14″x18″ paper.
